Technological developments have impacted academic libraries significantly, whether it is decreased door counts or increased use of virtual resources. This is particularly true in some special discipline libraries like health sciences or engineering libraries, where much of their content is available online and their users tend to be technologically savvy. Koç University’s Suna Kıraç Library supports faculties with a liaison librarians service model (an academic liaison librarian who has been designated the formal contact person between the libraries and a specific academic unit of the University).

In the fall of 2014, the Suna Kıraç Library surveyed the Koç University faculty to determine their use and satisfaction with library services and resources. The survey results show that the faculty use and value library resources, are generally satisfied with library services, and believe the Suna Kıraç Library makes an important contribution to their work.  This work also show us the importance of liaison librarianship for the Law School.

The results say that Law School faculty members still use the library as in person. They are also needs traditional resources like print books and print journals. Local information resources are still important for lawyers. The e-resources providers don’t support local information, therefore people do not have enough e-resources for their research area. Our book budget expenditures show another data about book purchase requests. The Law School and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (History, Philosophy, and Literature etc.) are our top two faculties which still want to develop collection with book purchases.

So, the Law School faculty members and legal researchers still need to collaborate with liaison librarian for purchasing requests, interlibrary loans, article request services etc.
